Which Gaming Accessories Suit Your Console?
Where to start for each system, plus the compatibility points worth knowing before you buy.
PlayStation
PS5 & PS4
Start with PlayStation accessories for controllers, charging stations and PS VR2 extras. PS5 games need a DualSense or DualSense Edge; a DualShock 4 works on PS5 for PS4 games only. Most headsets plug into the DualSense’s 3.5mm jack or use a USB dongle.
Xbox
Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One
The standard Xbox Wireless Controller runs on AA batteries, so a rechargeable pack or charging dock from our Xbox accessories is a smart first buy. Xbox consoles don’t connect to Bluetooth headsets, so choose an Xbox Wireless model or a wired headset that plugs into the controller.
Nintendo
Switch 2, Switch & Switch Lite
Switch 2 is larger than the original Switch and Switch OLED, so cases, grips and screen protectors in Nintendo Switch accessories are model-specific. Original Joy-Con and Pro Controllers work with Switch 2 for most games, and Switch Lite can’t output to a TV, so it doesn’t need a dock.
PC gaming
PC & Laptop

Buying checklist
How to Choose the Right Gaming Accessories
A few minutes of checking saves a return. Run through these five points before you add anything to your basket.

01Compatibility
Check the exact console and model, not just the brand. A Switch OLED case won’t fit Switch 2, and covers for the original PS5 don’t fit the PS5 Slim. Every product listing names the systems it supports.
02Connectivity
Wired USB and 3.5mm connections are simple and reliable; wireless dongles and Bluetooth cut the cable. Check what your console supports, especially for headsets on Xbox.
03Comfort & fit
For long sessions, look at controller weight and grip size, headset clamp and ear-cushion material, and whether a headset stays comfortable over glasses.
04Power & charging
Check the charging port (most current controllers use USB-C), battery type and cable length. Choose chargers from reputable brands with UKCA or CE marking; Electrical Safety First explains what to look for.
05Age ratings for games
Games sold in the UK carry a PEGI rating of 3, 7, 12, 16 or 18, plus content descriptors such as violence or in-game purchases. PEGI.info explains each rating if you’re buying for younger players.
